Telegram will launch a paid subscription plan for its users this month. The name of this service will be ‘Telegram Premium’. The company’s founder Pavel Durove himself provided this information. “Users who choose this option will get more limits for chat, media and file uploads,” Durov said in a blogpost. Telegram Premium will be available later this month. However, information about the current price has not come to light.
What will be the effect on existing telegram users?
“All existing features of Telegram will be free and many new free features will be introduced in the coming year,” said Pavel Durov. Free users will also be able to view documents, feedback and stickers sent by premium users.
Telegram’s tagline will change
A recent report states that users who download the application are looking at the tagline, ‘Telegram will be free forever, no fees’. However, that may soon change. In the latest update, the code for the next version of the Telegram app has been seen online with a different tagline except for the free slogan. The new strings indicate that the company is testing another way to generate revenue.
The company will also show ads!
Well known developer on Twitter Alessandro Paluzzi (@ alex193a) suggested that Telegram would soon launch a paid version of the app by changing the initial tagline. New data strings shared by the developer include the new tagline ‘Telegram provides free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media’. The screenshots also show that the company plans to show ads. Additional stickers from Telegram Premium subscriptions are also expected to be unlocked.
